New Microsoft Teams Certification Coming Soon: MS-720 Teams Voice Engineer
Since Microsoft Inspire happened last week – I have been getting a lot of questions regarding a tidbit of information in some of the sessions – a new Microsoft Teams Certification! This would be Exam number MS-720 , and the certification title will be Microsoft Certified: Teams Voice Engineer! Let’s look at what we know so far!
PS: You can either read the blog below or watch the YouTube video above – depending on your content consumption preferences! They both cover the same content! Also, this blog covers public information at the time it’s written – and everything can change from now until the certification is published!

Our First Hint Towards a New MS-720 Certification
The first sign we had towards a new certification is on June 9th, on the Microsoft Tech Community, when Microsoft posted a Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer Blueprinting Opportunity
. From that post we have learned two things:
- The title should be Microsoft Certified Teams Voice Engineer
- The survey also mentioned A Teams Voice Engineer must have completed the MS-700 – Microsoft Teams Administrator certification as a pre-requisite.
The last part really made me think, will this be an Associate or Expert level certification? On one side, the word Engineer usually means expert (who remembers the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certifications) , however, lately, Microsoft has released multiple Associate level certifications that use the Engineer title. I am thinking at MS-740 – Teams Support Engineer, or AZ-700 – Azure Network Engineer! Given the recent history from Microsoft, I think this will be an Associate level certification with 2 exams (MS-700 + MS-740) but only time will tell!
We Got Our Confirmation at Microsoft Inspire
At Microsoft Inspire which happened in July 2021, a session called Microsoft Teams, Grow your Business with the Hybrid workplace, confirmed us the certification was coming soon, as well as the exam number and certification title! No session went into details; however one session did mention we should see this exam in Fall 2021! Also, I would like to give a huge thanks to Philipp Kohn for sending me the tip about the mention!

first of all, thank you for passing out this information, I really appreciate it. i was expecting Microsoft Teams to have fundamentals though like we have other ones like AZ-900, DP-900etc.. also with MS and MS740 one should have expert instead of Associates coz MS 720 is associate too i think.

Microsoft only has a single -900 exam for the Modern Workplace which is MS-700. I would find a teams fundamentals exam really awesome – but I haven’t heard anything about it yet :(. MS-720 ended up being an expert level exam!
