Hello everyone! Microsoft just announced that they will change Microsoft certification pricing starting on November 1st. While many of you might think that prices will go up, a lot of you might actually save some money. Let’s dive right in.
First, let’s review the announcement. Microsoft said that they regularly update their exam content, format, and delivery to ensure that their exams are aligned with industry standards and best practices. They also review and adjust exam prices to help maintain the quality and value of their certification program. As a result, effective November 1st, 2024, Microsoft is updating the retail prices for its certification exams to reflect current market conditions. I’ll be honest with you, as soon as I read that, especially with the crazy inflation going on worldwide, I was sure certification prices would go up.
In that blog post, which by the way, the link will be in the description below, Microsoft shared a PDF document that lists the new prices in US dollars for their fundamentals and advanced role-based exams across the world. The easiest way to check is to use “Control + F” to search for your country and see the new price.
Let’s take a look at some examples and why I say that many of you might actually save some money. Starting with fundamentals, in the United States, a fundamentals exam was $99 and it remains at $99. In Canada, a fundamentals exam was $99 USD but will now be $84 USD, saving $15 per exam. Australia also sees a drop from $99 to $84. In South Africa, exams were already cheaper at $55, and they will now be $44. In Taiwan, the price drops from $75 to $50, and in Costa Rica, it goes from $60 to $59.
Now, let’s talk about advanced role-based exams. There will now be six different possible prices: $165, $140, $115, $99, $83, and $58 USD. In the US, the price remains at $165. In Canada and Australia, the price drops from $165 to $140. In South Africa, the price increases slightly from $55 to $58. In Taiwan, it drops from $125 to $83. In Costa Rica, it decreases from $100 to $99.
So, as you can see, for most countries, prices will either stay the same or go lower, and in very few cases, the prices will go up. If you’re planning to take a Microsoft certification exam, you can register and take the exam at the current price until October 31st, 2024. After that, the new prices will apply.
