I'm hosting this webinar with Microsoft MVP Drew Madelung to answer the questions admins have about Copilot in SharePoint. It's now generally available and on by default for everyone with a Copilot license, so your licensed users can turn a repeatable process into a Skill on any site they can edit, and build Agents grounded in that site's content.

That's great for productivity, and if you're the admin, you probably have a few questions. Who can create a Skill or an Agent? Where do they live, what can they reach, and how do you see what's out there across your tenant? Drew and I answer them from the admin side, so you leave with a clear map of which control governs what.

What we'll cover

One hour, from general availability to agent insights
  • What changed at general availability, including how Site AI settings and Restricted Content Discovery take over from the preview PowerShell controls to manage where Copilot in SharePoint is available
  • The spending policies that decide who can use the advanced capabilities running on Copilot Credits
  • Skills: who can create them, and how to protect the Agent Assets library where site Skills live
  • How retention, sensitivity labels, and auditing apply to Skills, and how to take inventory across your sites
  • Agents: who can create and use them, what the agent insights reports in the SharePoint admin center show you, and the policies you can apply right from those reports

The session ends with a clear map of which control governs what, so you can start reviewing your own tenant the moment the webinar ends.

Who should attend

This webinar is for SharePoint admins, Microsoft 365 admins, and the person responsible for Copilot governance in your organization. You don't need any experience building Skills or Agents, because we look at them from the admin side: the controls, the reports and the policies, not the building.

Frequently asked questions

Is the webinar free?

Yes, the Governing SharePoint Skills and Agents: What Admins Need to Know webinar is free. Register at vladtalks.com (opens in a new tab) and the link to join arrives by email.

How do I register for the webinar?

Register at vladtalks.com (opens in a new tab) and the link to join arrives by email.

Will the webinar be recorded?

Yes. Everyone who registers gets access to the recording afterward, so you can still sign up even if you cannot make the live time.

Do I need to install anything to join the webinar?

No. The webinar runs as a Microsoft Teams event, and you can join from the Teams app or straight from your browser with the link you get after registering. You don't need to be in the same Microsoft 365 tenant as us to attend.

Which SharePoint library holds site Skills?

Site Skills are stored as Markdown files in the site's Agent Assets library, under /Agent Assets/Skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md. By default, anyone with Edit permissions on the site can create a site Skill, and anyone with View permissions can use it. Because they are files in a SharePoint library, you can apply permissions, retention, sensitivity labels, and auditing to them, as Microsoft explains in Extend Copilot in SharePoint with skills (opens in a new tab). For a first look at what a Skill does, read SharePoint Skills: Your First Look at No-Code AI Workflows.

What happens to the preview PowerShell controls for Copilot in SharePoint in 2026?

With general availability, Microsoft is retiring the PowerShell settings used to opt tenants and sites in or out during the preview, such as KnowledgeAgentScope. Existing settings are honored until November 1, 2026. After that date, you manage where Copilot in SharePoint is available with Site AI settings and Restricted Content Discovery, as described in Get started with Copilot in SharePoint (opens in a new tab).

Can a SharePoint Skill reach content the user can't already open?

No. Neither personal nor site Skills expand a user's permissions, so a Skill acts only on sites and content the person running it already has permission to access. That's why permissions, sharing, and Restricted Content Discovery remain the controls that decide what Copilot in SharePoint can reach. To review agents across your sites, see SharePoint Agent Governance: Monitor and Control Access.
