Automating Content in SharePoint with Copilot: Agents, Skills, and Autofill
Copilot in SharePoint is now generally available, and it gives you three ways to take the repetitive content work off your team's plate: SharePoint agents, Skills and Autofill columns. In this free webinar recording, Microsoft MVP Gokan Ozcifci and I demo all three live and show you which one fits which job. Watch the whole thing right here, then tell me where to send the slides.
Tell me where to send them and they land in your inbox, usually within a couple of minutes.Fill the form below and they land in your inbox.
In this recording
- What changed when Copilot in SharePoint reached general availability
- Which features come with a Copilot license, and which use Copilot Credits
- How SharePoint agents are changing, with Agent Builder and the new agent chat web part
- Building an expense policy Skill live, and when to use a Skill instead of an agent
- Autofill columns with a real-world prompt, plus conditional formatting from a chat
- Dashboards, PDFs and Teams alerts from one prompt, and where Syntex features live now
Who this is for
This recording is for SharePoint site owners, content managers and anyone whose team still tags, extracts, summarizes or routes documents by hand. Whether you have been running Syntex models for years or you are building your first automated library, you will leave with practical ideas for putting Copilot in SharePoint to work the moment you are back in your tenant.
Where to go next
New to Skills? Start with my Getting Started with SharePoint Skills recording, where we spent the whole hour on the basics. If you are moving from Syntex, Gokan mapped every Syntex feature to its Copilot in SharePoint equivalent in his one-to-one mapping (opens in a new tab). And a lot of your questions were about the admin side, so join Drew Madelung and me for Governing SharePoint Skills and Agents on November 12.

Frequently asked questions
Is the recording free to watch?
Yes. The full recording plays right here on this page, for everyone, with no form to fill. The form only sends you the slides and links by email.
Should I use a SharePoint agent or a Skill?
Use a Skill when you have a repeatable process you want to run, like validating content, creating folders or filling metadata. Use an agent when you want a version of Copilot that answers questions from specific content, which can span one or more SharePoint sites. A Skill works on the site it lives on, while an agent can be grounded in several.
Do I need Copilot Credits to use Copilot in SharePoint?
Not for everyday work. With a Copilot license you can ask questions, create and run Skills, and fill Autofill columns. Copilot Credits come in when you work at scale, such as running Autofill across very large libraries or building whole sites and solutions, and your admin turns them on with a policy in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Can I reuse an Autofill column in other libraries?
Not from the library itself today. An Autofill column and its prompt live in the library you created them in, so ten libraries means ten copies. Leon Armston explains how to automate Autofill columns as list and site columns in his post on the Content Type Hub (opens in a new tab).
