Let’s dive deeper into each of these modules and learn what they do, starting with Viva Insights. Viva Insights is a collection of features and tools that provide insights about your workplace, with the main goal of using data-driven insights to improve productivity, employee well-being, and financial decisions. There are three types of dashboards, each providing different information to different audiences.

The first type is personal insights, which every user has access to. This provides insights into your productivity and well-being. It’s personal to you, only you can see it, and it’s meant to give you a better employee experience. You might also have initiatives such as inviting you to book focus time, learning time, or even meditation sessions with the Headspace integration.

Next, we have manager insights, which are for people who manage teams. These insights include different dashboards and programs, such as ensuring you have frequent one-on-ones with your team members, setting up a shared no-meeting day with your team, and providing anonymized productivity statistics.

Lastly, there are organizational insights for enterprise leaders, offering high-level insights around organizational resilience, employee engagement, organizational agility, and more.

Now that we’ve covered the theory, let’s head over to the lab and check out Viva Insights in action. In the lab environment, I opened up the browser in Microsoft Teams inside the Viva Insights app. As a business leader, I have access to everything. On my home page, I see motivational messages, various cards from different dashboards, and activities like sending praise to colleagues and reflecting on how I feel. I can also do mindfulness exercises through the Headspace integration, with guided meditations and focus music available.

Additionally, I have actions like staying connected with colleagues and booking focus time based on my calendar. Viva Insights also suggests blocking specific times in my calendar for focus work and reminds me of my no-meetings day every two weeks on Thursdays. There are multiple tabs in Viva Insights, such as staying connected with collaborators and protecting time. The first time you open it, there is a lot of in-context help to guide you.

As a manager, I have insights about my team, such as scheduling one-on-ones and reflecting on my interactions with team members. I can see statistics aimed at making me a better manager, like the percentage of time spent in meetings and coaching and development insights. For leaders, there are statistics about the organization, such as engagement, innovation, and effective management.

One cool feature is the virtual commute, which allows you to maintain habits like listening to podcasts or meditating, even while working from home. Viva Insights also offers downloadable PowerPoint presentations for reporting, providing detailed slides on various aspects of organizational performance.

Finally, the inspiration library, still in preview, offers articles from sources like Harvard Business Review and Microsoft to guide you on organizational well-being and culture. This feature will likely soon be generally available.
