SharePoint 2013 MCSD Developer Certification Path is Out!

A few weeks ago, I did a post about the newly released path to MCSE SharePoint 2013 and I had many people ask me about the Developer Path.  At the moment, I didn’t knew anything, however during an 1-hour presentation on the Microsoft Certified SharePoint Master program, there was a Slide containing info on the Developer Certification Exam.
PS: At the time of this post, the MCSD SharePoint Certification Path is not on the Microsoft Learning Website!

For the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) in SharePoint you will need to pass 4 exams. Two of them are SharePoint focused,  and two of them are from the MCSD: Web Application  part.

SharePoint Focused:

  1. 70-488
  2. 70-489
Web Focused
  1. 70-480 (PS: You can take this exam for free at the moment. more info HERE)
  2. TBD
Also, The MCSE and the MCSD are subject to the new “Recertification” strategy that came out in April. For the MCSE, it is confirmed at 3 years. For the MCSD, I am not 100% sure yet, however the other MCSD exams it’s every 2 years.

Edit:

     6. A very nice guide to prepare for the 70-480:   Exam 70-480 Programming with HTML5, Javascript and CSS3 Preparation Guide (Thanks to Bjørn Harald Rapp)

If you know anything else about the MCSD Certification path, or have any questions, don’t hesitate to send me an email!

Hi, I hoped you had revealed the id of the other web app exam, since I blogged about this already one week ago: http://spviking.com/2012/11/29/sharepoint-2013-mcsd-certification/. I remember that graph from the Webinar, but haven’t been able to download it until now 🙂

Sorry, don’t have it yet :(. However I think it’s this one : Developing ASP.NET 4.5 MVC Web Applications . It’s more relevant to SharePoint than “Developing Windows Azure and Web Services”

However, it’s only a guess at the moment

I think so too, pretty sure it will not be 2 html5- or windows 8 apps-oriented exams !!

By the way, how did your 70-480 go? From what I remember you were trying it in November.

      Hello,
Here is what I found for you:

Q.I have an MCPD on Visual Studio 2010. How can I upgrade to an MCSD certification?
      A.
If you have achieved an MCPD: Windows Developer 4 certification, MCPD: Web Developer 4 certification, or MCPD: SharePoint Developer 2010 certification, you will be able to earn an MCSD certification on the corresponding solution by passing two exams.

This are all the details I have! I will make a post once a detailed path comes out!

      Hi Jeyakumar,

Unfortunately, you don’t got any SharePoint Certifications at the moment. In order to get certified for 2013 you got 2 choices.

      1. Get certified for SharePoint 2010, than upgrade to SharePoint 2013
      SP 2010
      -70-573
      -70-576

      Upgrade to 2013
      -70-480
      -70-493.

Those are 4 exams and you would be certified SP 2010 & 2013. Your other option is to go directly for SP 2013 with

      -70-480
      -70-488
      -70-489
      -TBD

One thing is for sure, you will need to get the 70-480, so get it now while it’s free! http://www.absolute-sharepoint.com/2012/11/microsoft-is-offering-free-voucher-for.html

If you got any other questions, don’t hesitate!
